Vanessa St. George Freeman, MA, MFA

Vanessa St. George Freeman (principal investigator) is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Adelphi University. Her primary research interests involve the study of trauma and the construction of narrative. She has held clinical externship positions at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel, Adelphi’s Center for Psychological Services, and at the New School for Social Research. Prior to returning to school for psychology, she worked for many years in media, journalism, and publishing. She holds an MFA in nonfiction from Columbia University and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College.

Kate Szymanski, PhD

Kate Szymanski is an associate professor at Adelphi University who studies trauma and its clinical implications. She holds an MA and PhD in clinical psychology from Northeastern University. She is a co-editor of the anthology, Expressions of the Unspeakable:Narratives of Trauma (2014).
