Frequently Asked Questions

What constitutes “reporting” sexual harassment?

Great question! For the purposes of this study, reporting sexual harassment something as informal as telling a boss or supervisor or as formal as filing a complaint with Human Resources or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

I’m not sure I have the time to come to Adelphi University for an interview but I still want to participate. What can I do?

We want to work with you to make participating as easy as possible. If you have access to a private office or a neutral private location (that is not in your home), please get in touch and we may be able to arrange to come to you.

I’m not in the NYC metro area, can I still participate?

Currently we are only doing in-person interviews in New York, but that may change! Get in touch and let us know.

I’d like to participate, but I’m not sure I’m ready to talk about this.

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable first. If you feel that participating may be a distressing experience, it might be best not to participate at this time. If you do wish to participate and tell your story, you are free to share just what you feel comfortable sharing and you are free to stop the interview at any time and still be compensated for your time with a $25 Amazon gift card. If at any point before or after participating you feel you need help, you may reach out to the researchers who will provide resources so you can receive support.
